Home Tax Assessment & Notices
Income tax assessment is the process through which the Income Tax Department checks the return you filed, confirms that your income and tax are correct, and decides the final tax you owe or the refund you get. It is done under the Income Tax Act.
If the department finds a mismatch, a missing detail, or a doubtful claim, it sends you a notice. A notice does not always mean you did something wrong. Many notices are routine and can be closed with a proper reply and proof.
